Notes to Make the Most of the Full Moon on July 3, 2023
Deep Conversations with Destiny

This Soli-Lunar Astrology Digest distills the development of consciousness within the sun’s energy field as experienced on Earth for our present time. Every post is like a step on a path that came from the step before it and leads to the next.
This full moon is a supermoon.
Nasa says, “‘Supermoon’ isn’t an official term, but typically it’s used to describe a full Moon that comes within at least 90 percent of perigee…
During every 27-day orbit around Earth, the Moon reaches both its perigee, about 226,000 miles (363,300 km) from Earth, and its farthest point, or apogee, about 251,000 miles (405,500 km) from Earth.”
That range must be approximate because almanac.com says, “At its nearest point, the Buck Moon will be 224,895.4 miles (361,934 km) from Earth.”
The math is important because for astrology to be truly accurate, it must work with astronomy.
Real astrology unites folklore and physics.
The point is, the moon is close to Earth, so it appears slightly bigger and brighter from Earth.
Symbolically, light energy is shining more brightly onto some aspects of consciousness. Because the full moon is in Capricorn, we might anticipate disclosures related to corruption and abuses of power/authority.
This impacts the cultural level but is activated at the individual level day-to-day by choices individuals make. We’ll talk more about this with Venus and Mars throughout, but…
For now, let’s start by discussing the opposition of the sun and moon in Cancer and Capricorn respectively to help us create distinctions in what’s being illuminated:
Sun/moon opposition – Cancer vs. Capricorn
The sun is in Cancer and the moon is full in Capricorn, specifically, they are in the 12th degree of each sign respectively.
The sun illuminates the moon from the moon’s sign. This can bring feelings of lack that are hard to place.
Emotionality vs. Practicality – the emotionally sensitive nature of Cancer, which rules the moon, shines on the push and pull between the inner emotional world that’s shining outwardly (sun in Cancer), and the outer practical world that’s reflected internally (moon in Capricorn).
Security (sun) vs. Responsibility (moon) – an outward focus on inner needs and an internal responsibility for outward outcomes.
Home life vs. Work life – Cancer focuses on personal security at home and Capricorn focuses on authority, order, and control in the collective where success is shown by security in the world.
Comfort vs. Accomplishment – Adaptive activity leaning on emotional and energetic sensitivities to an active inner world vs. actions to create results in a responsive outer world.
Cyclical vs. Linear – Cancer, being ruled by the moon, reflects the moon’s association with cycles, change, and ebb and flow. Capricorn has a more linear view and prefers goals and executable step-by-step plans.
Intuitive vs. Rational – Living from gut feelings vs. pragmatism. Emotions (inner realities) vs. Evidence (external proof).
Receptive vs. Directive – the sun is in a feminine water sign and the moon is a masculine earth sign. It’s a contrast of inward-facing, receptivity, and processing (sun) vs. practicality, directness, and taking control to make things happen.
Dependence vs. Independence – Cancer prefers spiritual connection and intimacy, which can lead to dependence, whereas Capricorn stands on its own two feet and is about self-reliance and personal authority.
Caring vs. Reserved – Cancer is caring but that doesn’t mean Capricorn is uncaring. Capricorn shows it through actions and commitments rather than emotional expression.
With all these qualities of contrast and particularly because the sun is in the moon’s sign, there’s an important opportunity for Deep Conversations within yourself and within your communities.
It’s an important time to consider:
Where do you want to go in life?
Where are we going as a society and how are you as an individual participating in its creation?
What do you want to build for the future?
What does Independence really mean for you?
Speaking of Deep Conversations, the time to the next new moon on July 17, 2023, will be a period for “reconnecting with what has been hidden” within those spheres of relationship.
Retrograde/Direct changes since the new moon on June 18, 2023:
Venus is in pre-retrograde shadow started on June 22, at 12° Leo 12’
Neptune Retrograde started on June 30, at 27° Pisces 41’
Notable transits and aspects in this chart:
Mercury is conjunct with the sun (it has passed behind the sun - “superior conjunction”), opposite the moon (full moon). It was exact less than one full day before the full moon
Lots of trines and sextiles with the only challenging aspect showing up in Venus and Mars together, separating waxing square to Uranus
This proves that individual action is the solution even though it may feel forced.
In other words, “Keep your nose down, stay focused on your ‘promised land,’ and get back to your personal work.”
The work is about learning who you are at your core, rather than who you are on paper.
More about Venus and Mars later.
Patterns within the chart:
Pluto, Neptune, and Saturn are retrograde together in that third quadrant of the zodiac, while all other planets are direct
This implies to me that new understandings (disclosures) and new qualities of character are being deposited in the collective unconsciousness.
Will they be exploited for authoritarianism and totalitarian control (Capricorn shadow) or for a divine revelation?
What do your deep conversations tell you?
Noteworthy qualities:
We entered Jupiter’s Pre-Retrograde shadow area on June 11. During this time, we’re seeding the A/B tests, and running experiments that we’ll get to learn from during the Jupiter retrograde phase that starts on September 4 at 15° Taurus 35’, and ends on December 30, 2023. That time will challenge us to maturely handle our lessons.
The best thing we can do now, before this retrograde phase starts, is set up whatever we’re doing for the rest of the year to minimize the pain (maximize the uptake) of learning opportunities that’ll happen in Q4. (Taurus is connected to money, work, and finance.)
It’s important to make your intentions sacred. Sacred intentions will be honored. Objectifying intentions will be subverted by spiritual forces.
Bring life and love to the tormented and deprived parts of yourself.
The full moon relationship to Saturn in retrograde calls each one of us to find confidence and orientation in a system or structure that’s bigger than ourselves, and to foster partnerships with forces that flow along the paths of least resistance (Pisces).
This includes new modes of interchange on the horizon.
Reorienting your personal life around sacred work and dedicated service.
Realizing who your team is.
The motivating force of Uranus
Look for symbols of guidance. A rewarding sign will come that will give you the inspiration to stay on the path.
Guiding symbols will feel like an inspiration.
Uranus is already in its pre-retrograde shadow (A/B testing things we’ll all get to reconsider until Uranus) and will station retrograde in Taurus on August 28 at 23° Taurus 5’. (More below on the coming Uranus retrograde cycle.)
This fall will bring tests of faith, aka “Endurance.” The more we pay attention to the symbols that inspire us now, do the “right” work, and set up experiments to maximize learning (and the ease of its acquisition), in rhythm with natural forces, the less abrupt our work will be in the fall, and the more fully we’ll be received and accepted for our efforts.
Mercury is less than 3° past an exact “superior conjunction” with the sun, meaning it has passed behind the sun and is moving quickly in the sky.
“Some people have a 'blown-out' mind through which they receive deep spiritual intuitions and thus sometimes behave in a way that is completely incomprehensible for other people whose logical mental organization is tighter. This blown-out type is fairly representative of the symbolism of Mercury in superior position.” link
To me, this is about expanding beyond traditional boundaries of consciousness, specifically related to the current macro-trend of earth’s 3D to 5D evolution of consciousness. For a deep dive into “earth’s 3D to 5D evolution of consciousness,” check out this blog.
Mercury’s speed at the superior conjunction would seem to confirm the idea that it confers deep spiritual intuition.
Source linked at “Michael Meyer” below
Michael Meyer (page with image link in the name) would call Mercury’s placement in this chart, “Epimethean-Direct” and will rise in the evening as “Mercury Evening Star” in another 4 days or so.
It’s worth noting that, “The Epimethean-Direct mental type is characterized by a growing sense of a long-range, objective and historical perspective. It symbolizes a mind in which eagerness and impulsiveness have given way to careful deliberation. Here the calculated risk replaces the intuitive gamble. It is often seen in the birth charts of gurus, spiritual teachers and religious leaders — transmitters and custodians of the many particular traditions.”
Mercury calls for this to be a time to “release what has been hidden,” and more specifically, to recognize that Truth itself has a permanence to it.
True “Truth” has permanence, so that which is true, has a quality of permanence to it as well.
Beyond abundance is satisfaction, beyond satisfaction is asceticism, and beyond asceticism is the “acceptance of disciplined work” that reflects the work of the soul. After all, it’s my belief that we’re present in physical form to more fully materialize the spiritual purpose that we manifested into life to perform.
Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus
I feel called to point out that at this full moon on July 3, Uranus is at 21° Taurus 49’.
This snapshot comes from the chart above (astrodienst.com) for our full moon on July 3, showing Uranus (21° Taurus 49’) and Jupiter, at 9° Taurus 43’.
Jupiter is 12° behind Uranus at this full moon.
I point this out because the position of Uranus now is exactly where Uranus will be again on April 20/21, 2024 when Jupiter passes in front of Uranus after the fall 2023 retrograde cycles of Uranus and Jupiter.
The point is, the time period of this lunar cycle, aka, “July 4th, 2023”, will be remembered for years to come.
While I mentioned above that Uranus will station retrograde in Taurus on August 28, the more complete details of Uranus in retrograde are:
Uranus entered retrograde shadow at on May 12, 2023, at 19° Taurus 05′,
Stations retrograde on August 28, 2023, at 23° Taurus 05′ Rx,
Stations direct on January 27, 2024, at 19° Taurus 05′,
Leaves retrograde zone/shadow on May 12, 2024, at 23° Taurus 05′

Jupiter and Uranus are the two lowest planets in the picture, the first two encountered in clockwise motion.
The snapshot of these two charts shows Jupiter transiting Uranus in the 22nd degree of Taurus on April 20/21, 2024.
An important theme of this transit next year will be “obedience,” but obedience to what? Inspiration or investigation?
Rewards will go to the faithful and those who act with a dedication to their dreams (5D quality of trust) rather than adherence to evidence in 3D, as seeded by the faith demonstrated from this July 3, 2023, full moon, and on.
It’s important to demonstrate loyalty to the unseen reality in your dreams.
Last thoughts, and what we’re individually responsible for over the next year
The clarity of right action, perhaps more accurately called, “right character expression,” brought in by Venus and Mars in Leo (separating waxing square, 91°, and 94° respectively) are an individual’s tools of endurance, calling each of us to keep moving forward towards on goals while seeing the rainbow at the end of the storm.
The key at this present stage is managing one’s emotions at the personal level, despite unwinding happening at the cultural level (that’s obvious, right?), exemplified by Pluto and Neptune, which I’ve talked about in recent posts such as my recent new moon article on June 18, and my full moon article on June 3.
Because the sun is in the moon’s sign at this full moon, because they’re both in the middle decan of their respective signs, and because of other reasons related to the exact degree placements of both the sun and the moon, the evolution from 3D to 5D is becoming more clear and available.
This is a time to continue doing our personal work, to have the deep conversations that clear out the 3D muck, allowing us to be the beacons of 5D light (universal love and acceptance) on earth.
We’ll see more quickly and clearly, through the law of correspondences, that we’re souls alive to know ourselves more deeply, not necessarily just to live in reaction to those with the thumbs that we might find ourselves under. Those of us who are doing our personal work and having those deep conversations that get us closer to the core of ourselves will find that manifesting what we truly want will happen more quickly and smoothly than ever.
To the degree that we’re not doing our work or that we’re living reactively, we’ll find that our manifestations bring us things we don’t necessarily want. This isn’t all bad though because it gives us the opportunity to practice discernment, learning, and refocusing on the work of discovering what we do truly want.
It’ll be important not to be caught up in attachments, aka addictions and habits, we’re meant to leave behind.
The more we’re able to come to connection, alignment, and consensus in our deep conversations during this time, the more ideally our manifestations will happen, and the smoother and more alive next year will feel as Jupiter and Uranus move out of retrograde and Jupiter passes Uranus.
Happy Full Moon,
Joshua
